Hemp Seed

Hemp is the common name used to describe the Cannabis genus of plants that have long been used as a source of fiber in production of rope, boat sails, paper, and cloth, and which has more recently played an expanding role in the food supply.

Hemp has 3 unique nutritional factors. It has an ideal balance of Omega 3 (Alpha-linolenic acid; ALA) and 6 (Linoleic Acid) for sustainable human health, it has a full amino acid spectrum meaning it provides complete protein [that can make important contributions to daily protein requirements], and it has a massive trace mineral content.

Hemp seed has been consumed by mankind (and animals) for centuries. Whole populations have survived off hemp seed in times of famine. It is ideal for people with low essential fatty acid intake. Other benefits of hemp seed oil include its effect on the skin and the hair, nourishing both on a cellular level. Hemp oil is easily absorbed by the skin. Source.

Personally, I eat hemp seed by the spoonful. It has a great nutty flavor I absolutely love. It’s truly addicting (no pun intended)! I also make smoothies for my family every morning, and include these awesome seeds, along with Chia seeds and Alfalfa and Broccoli sprouts. Great stuff, amazing sources of nutrition!
