Detoxification of your body through bathing is an ancient remedy, where toxins are excreted through sweating. A detox bath assists your body in eliminating toxins as well as absorbing the minerals and nutrients that are in the water. Most of all, it’ll leave you feeling refreshed.

Soaking in epsom salt helps to replenish the body’s magnesium levels, combating hypertension. The sulfate flushes toxins and helps form proteins in brain tissue and joints. Baking soda is known for its cleansing ability and has anti-fungal properties. It also leaves the skin very soft!

To take an effective detox bath, give yourself at least 40 minutes to completely relax in your bath. The first 20 minutes are said to help your body remove toxins, while the second 20 minutes are for absorbing the essential minerals from the salt in the water.

Fill the tub with water as hot as your body will tolerate it, without burning yourself. Measure out 2 cups of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate), 1 cup of Baking Soda, and 20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil. Swish the water around well and climb in slowly, it’ll be hot! Soak for as long as possible. 40 minutes is recommended, but aim for at least 20. You should start sweating within minutes. Have a glass of water on hand and drink plenty of liquid while you are in the bath. Your body needs fluids to help with the detoxification process. Also, don’t let your hair fall into this water, the salt will strip it and make it feel like hay!

When your time is up, get out of the tub slowly and carefully, because your body has been working hard to clean out your system and you may get lightheaded or feel weak and drained.
